Special Edition Monster Hunter Rise Nintendo Switch announced

While special edition video game consoles are a relatively common occurrence, Nintendo has been more reserved than most when it comes to releasing special edition Switch consoles. While rumours of a Switch ‘Pro’ continue to circulate, Nintendo has now announced that it will be releasing a special edition Nintendo Switch console in celebration of the upcoming release of Monster Hunter Rise.

Monster Hunter Rise is one of the biggest Switch console exclusives currently announced for 2021. As such, it makes sense that Nintendo would mark the release with a special edition console.

This console, which is set to release on the 26th of March (the same day as the game) offers a special tattoo-esque patterned design on the Switch dock, as well as the joycons and main Switch body itself. While not as drastic as the recently announced Mario Switch, this special edition Switch still stands out from the typical console.

As part of the bundle, those who purchase the console will also receive some special in-game items:

  • “Narikiri Retriever” (equipped with Otomogaruku layering)
  • “Narikiri Forest” (Otomo Airou layered equipment)
  • “Initial stone guard” useful in the early stages
  • “Monster Hunter Rise Deluxe Kit”
  • Hunter layering equipment Armor “Kamrai” series
  • Otomo Garuku layered parts “Shuriken Gull Color”
  • Otomo Airou Layered parts “Fish cat color”
  • Gestures (4 types of jumps)
  • Hairstyle (Izuchi tail)
  • Pose set (Samurai pose)
  • Face paint (Kabuki paint)

Lastly, those who already own a Switch but still want to celebrate the occasion can purchase a special edition Switch Pro controller, which like the console, features a unique patterned design on the face of the controller. As with the console, the “Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Monster Hunter Rise Edition” will launch on the 26th of March.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
