Huawei P40 and P40 Pro launch event cancelled, will be unveiled online

Huawei was expected to unveil the P40 series of phones at a global launch event in Paris. But due to the coronavirus outbreak, the launch event was cancelled, making Huawei the latest in a long line of companies – including Facebook, Google and Nvidia – to cancel events. Now Huawei is expected to take the curtains off the P40 and P40 Pro at an online-only event that is going to take place on March 26th.

The announcement was made on Huawei's official Twitter account and reported by wccftech. In the tweet Huawei gives the link to where you can take part in the online-exclusive reveal (HERE).

According to wccftech, we can expect the phones to use the ‘Kirin 990 chipset that will support 5G, better cameras, battery and display.” This is in line with what Huawei's competitors like Samsung have put their focus on for their recent phone models. It seems like 5G, more cameras and better displays with higher refresh rates are becoming an industry standard in the higher-end segments of the phone market.

Huawei is still opting to ship their devices with Android, but they will do so without any Google services. This means that apps like Google Play Store and Maps – to mention a few – are not going to be available on the phones.
