Grand Theft Auto VI will reportedly start printing physical discs in December

After months of waiting and years of anticipation, Grand Theft Auto VI is nearly upon us, with players finally being able to pre-order the game ahead of its release this November. One of the more curious aspects of this release however is the fact that physical copies of GTA VI will not contain an actual disc. Fortunately, this appears to be a short-term concern, with insiders claiming that discs could be printed as soon as this December.

As reported by the publication PPE.PL (who have accurately leaked a bunch of different retailer happenings in the past, including GTA VI related news), Grand Theft Auto VI will be getting a proper physical release – albeit later than usual.

While initial copies being sold before / around the 19th of November will offer little more than a code in a box, PPL confirmed that Rockstar are planning to release full disc versions of the game “in December 2026.”

No exact reason was given for this decision, however one of the core factors is likely to be the fact that they wish to avoid any early leaks. Of course, it also helps that many fans are likely to double-dip once the disc version comes out.

Either way, for the sake of preservation (and the second-hand market) it is good to see that GTA VI will be getting a proper physical release. Better late than never.
