Apple Arcade exclusive ‘Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls’ is being delisted

Apple Arcade has over the years amassed a strong line-up of high quality and original games, developing exclusives based on popular IPs such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Katamari and Castlevania. Unfortunately, as is the case with all subscription services, titles enter and leave on a somewhat consistent basis. One such exclusive is Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls – a unique multi-layered platformer with RPG and PvP elements. Released back in 2021, the game is unfortunately being officially delisted later this week.

Taking to its website to make the announcement, Konami officially confirmed that Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls will soon no longer be playable in any form, writing:

“Thank you for playing Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls. Since its launch on Apple Arcade in September 2021, the game has continued to be supported by many players. However, we have decided to terminate the service on September 3, 2026 (PDT)”, No reason was given for its termination.

While you are unlikely to have enough time to check the game out before its removal, Konami has given a slight heads-up, confirming that Grimoire of Souls will be delisted on the 20th of August, followed up by complete “service termination” come the 3rd of September.

Apple Arcade Castlevania

For the uninitiated, Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls first launched in 2019 as a free-to-play game on iOS and Android. Limited to Canada at the time, the game would ultimately be shut down and delisted in 2020 – coming back one year later as an Apple Arcade exclusive free of any microtransactions.

It is worth noting that over the years, some ex-Apple Arcade exclusives have found their way onto other platforms, with the likes of Exit the Gungeon; Shinsekai: Into the Depths and Assemble With Care eventually coming to PCs and consoles. Whether Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls will follow a similar pattern, we will have to wait and see.
