The tests were performed in a controlled room with temperatures maintained at a constant 23c – a comfortable temperature, not too cool, not too warm.
Idle temperatures were measured after sitting at the desktop for 30 minutes. Load measurements were acquired by playing Crysis Warhead for 30 minutes and measuring the peak temperature. We also have included Furmark results, recording maximum temperatures throughout a 30 minute stress test. All fan settings were left on automatic.
Overclocking the Galaxy GTX 460 GC beyond the factory clock speeds only raised our temperatures by a couple of degrees Celsius across the board. These results indicate that the cooling design used by Galaxy is capable of what we asked from it. It is not the quietest cooling solution available but it does the job maintaining decent temperatures even after 30 minutes of Furmark.
