SiSoft Sandra Professional

SiSoft Sandra is a great benchmarking suite and one I have used for many years now. We are using the two popular CPU intensive tests, Dhrystone and Whetstone and the result being the number of executions of the suite, per second. These run entirely within the CPU and cache memory and its a good synthetic test to analyse general core efficiency.

The Whetstone benchmark bears particular significance, it was originally written in 1972 and originally measured computing power in units of Kilo-Whetstone instructions per second (kWIPS). This was later changed to Whetstone Instructions per Second (mWIPS). This primarily focuses on floating point arithmetic performance. As we can see, the results are absolutely stunning and the 980X is looking to be a fantastic pairing for the Asus Rampage III Extreme board.
