After introducing the new ViewFinity S8 monitors at CES 2022, Samsung has finally released them, bringing the world's first UL-verified Glare-Free monitors to the market. Samsung's new S80PB monitors are aimed at creative professionals, consisting of 27- and 32-inch models.
The new ViewFinity S8 monitors come with IPS panels with 4K resolution, 5ms response time and 60Hz refresh rate. Moreover, they both have the same 1000:1 contrast ratio, 10-bit colour depth, and 98% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage. Besides the size, the maximum brightness is the most noticeable difference between the two models. While the 27-inch model caps at 400 nits, enough to certify it with DisplayHDR 400, the 32-inch one has a maximum brightness of 600 nits, fulfilling the requirements to receive the DisplayHDR 600 certification.
Both new S8 models are Pantone validated, meaning they can reproduce over 2,000 colours and the new 110 skin tone shades added to the Pantone SkinTone Guide. Additionally, they feature the new Matte Display technology that reduces light reflection that helps the monitor reproduce colours consistently, regardless of the light conditions and the angle at which the user is looking at the display. This technology helped them become the world's first UL-verified Glare-Free monitors.
The two ViewFinity S8 monitors share other features, including an eye-saver mode (low blue light), flicker-free tech, PiP, PbP, Adaptive Picture, and a HAS (Height Adjustment Stand) with pivoting, tilting and swivelling capabilities. They also have the same connectivity options: a DP interface, an HDMI port, an RJ-45 port, a USB-C port with 90W power delivery and a USB hub with three USB-A ports.
These monitors will become available soon. Samsung has yet to share pricing in this region, but we already know the 32-inch model costs 820,000 won in Korea (£518), while the 27-inch model is 720,000 won (£455).
