Intel Meteor Lake iGPU shown running Dying Light 2 with XeSS

At Intel Innovation last month, we had the chance to see an Intel Meteor Lake iGPU running Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Now in a more recent demo, Intel has showcased its new iGPU running a more recent and demanding game – Dying Light 2.

During the presentation, Intel showcased Meteor Lake's gaming capabilities with Dying Light 2 using XeSS technology. The native rendering was performed at 1080p, while the XeSS demo was done at 720p. In both cases, system output never exceeded 30W. Interestingly, Intel focused on FPS scaling rather than presenting the exact framerate. With XeSS, the game ran between 1.2x and 1.9x faster, but most of the time was around 1.6x.

With Intel XeSS to aid in boosting performance, Intel is positioning its new iGPUs to be capable gaming units, which could be great for cheaper laptops or even handheld devices.

The Meteor Lake iGPU is expected to have up to 8 Xe-Cores, like the Arc A370M discrete GPU. The first Meteor Lake processors are due to launch in mid-December.
