Intel acquires Rivet Networks

Intel has announced that it is acquiring Rivet Networks – a company mainly known for its network solutions, with its Killer series often used in various gaming machines. Intel said that the acquisition will boost “Intel's Wi-Fi offerings for PC Platforms”.

The world is growing ever more dependent on Wi-Fi and good internet connection. According to Intel, today’s homes have an average of 11 Wi-Fi-enabled devices – a number that probably will continue to grow. Intel also refers to reports that say that over 90% of the traffic of internet traffic is Wi-Fi-based. So it's not difficult to understand why Intel is interested in Rivet Networks technology and software.

Intel and Rivet Networks do have a history of working together, as they teamed up to produce the Killer AX1650, and Intel's intention is that the acquisition will benefit the company's future products. Intel said that “Rivet Networks’ key products, including its Killer brand, will integrate into Intel’s broader PC Wi-Fi portfolio”
