Prior to the game’s launch last year, the team at Gearbox confirmed that the then-upcoming Borderlands 4 would be landing on the Nintendo Switch 2 alongside all other platforms. Right at the last minute however, the Switch 2 version was delayed indefinitely citing the need for “additional development and polish time”.  While leaks indicated that the port could finally be arriving this month, publisher 2K has now indicated this might not be the case.

Last week, we reported on a new round of lay-offs taking place at Crystal Dynamics. At the time, I reported that this was likely impacting the Perfect Dark team, as Microsoft/Xbox opted to cancel the game this year. Now, we have confirmation on that and as it turns out, the reason for the delayed impact at Crystal Dynamics was due to a deal that was brewing between Microsoft, Embracer and Take-Two, which would have seen Take-Two taking over the game and funding it through to completion. 

Borderlands 4 marks the next major entry in the long-running looter shooter series, with the progenitor of the sub-genre set to launch their successor in just under two weeks’ time. While the game already features plenty of content to look forward to on day-one, the team at Gearbox have now detailed the post-launch roadmap for Borderlands 4.

While Grand Theft Auto 6 was originally supposed to release this year, the game was pushed back to May 2026 over the Spring. Due to the ambitious nature of Grand Theft Auto 6, many are anticipating a second delay, but Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, says that no such delay is being considered.
