WD Red SN700 1TB NVMe SSD Review

We tested the 4K random read performance of the drive through a range of queue depths. The setup for the tests is listed below.
Transfer Request Size: 4KB, Outstanding I/O: 1-32.

When tested with our 4-threaded 4K random read test, the performance peaked at QD16 at 361,562 IOPS before dropping back to finish the test run at QD32 at 361,001 IOPS. However, that peak figure is well short of the official maximum of 515,000 IOPS.

4K Random Read v QD Performance compared.

Although we couldn't get close to the official maximum 4K random read score, the drive performs well at low queue depths (QD1-4) before dropping back at QD32.
