Building a Core i7 HTPC with Sapphire Mini ITX H67

To test power consumption today we are using a Kill A Watt meter and measuring the load at the wall. Monitors and peripherals are not fed through the same socket. All power saving features are enabled in the bios.

The system takes a total of 183 Watts when under full load. The Sapphire HD6670 Ultimate Edition demands around 60 watts of this total drain. This shows that a high performance system does not have to demand a huge amount of power at the socket. Using a high end video card would increase the overall power consumption considerably, and potentially create more noise as well.
