Ugreen NASync DXP4800 Pro 4-bay NAS Review

Ugreen is still a relative newcomer in the NAS business, but from the looks of the first few devices we have tested, the company has potential. The DXP4800 Plus was clearly a product from a new entrant in terms of software, but we're pleased to report that this has developed a lot since then and the native applications available are now extensive. The DXP4800 Pro can be so much more than just a network storage device. With its more capable processor, you can truly consider this to be a mini server. The Docker app enables you to run all manner of network applications.

Performance for a NAS is very much a factor of the drives you put in it, and we tested the DXP4800 Pro with faster drives than the Plus. However, with both 2.5Gbit and 10Gbit Ethernet available, you'll be able to get the best out of this system whatever you put in the main bays, although M.2 NVMe drives will still make the network connection the bottleneck. As we found, you will need to fiddle with the MTU and Jumbo Frame settings to achieve the fastest throughput, however.

This is not a cheap NAS device, though. The Pro version is £120 more than the Plus, so you will really need the benefits of the more potent processor and greater memory expansion possibilities to pay the near-£700 price tag. There are also other cheaper 4-bay options from Synology, QNAP and even Ugreen itself. If you want a NAS box that has plenty of capability to be more like a home server with lots of fault-tolerant storage potential, the Ugreen NASync DXP4800 Pro has a rich feature set to commend it, solid performance (with the right settings…) and a maturing operating system. Definitely worth considering if you're a NAS enthusiast.

The Ugreen NASync DXP4800 Pro is available direct from Ugreen for £689.99 inc VAT, though it is on offer until May 17th 2026 for £585.99.

KitGuru says: The Ugreen NASync DXP4800 Pro is packed with software extension capabilities, which the faster processor than the Plus version can take better advantage of. It's not a cheap option, but a great choice if you want your NAS device to act as a home or small office application server as well as fault-tolerant network storage.
