Following other back-tracked decisions, Microsoft has now confirmed that some of its upcoming Xbox games will include a disc in the box after all.

Following the surprise announcement last month that Microsoft’s upcoming holiday titles would retail for $80 (starting with The Outer Worlds 2), the console maker backtracked on this decision, instead charging the more ‘standard’ $70. It seems as though Obsidian’s upcoming RPG isn’t the only game being lowered to $70 – with all of Microsoft’s upcoming Holiday titles dropping back down to the previous industry standard.

Microsoft concluded its recent Xbox Games Showcase event with a lengthy deep-dive into the upcoming The Outer Worlds 2. While it appears to be a solid sequel to 2019’s AA affair, the game has seen some backlash for being the first in Microsoft’s new $80 push. Though unsurprising, the team at Obsidian have confirmed that the price was dictated by Microsoft, not them.

As part of Microsoft’s deep-dive into The Outer Worlds 2, it was confirmed that the game will include both a first and 3rd-person mode.

Following the announcement of The Outer Worlds 2 for PS5, one leaker has claimed that “exclusive Xbox console games will be the exception rather than the rule”.
